An Interview-Based Research Study
Fieldwork interviews for this project are no longer being scheduled. If you participated, thank you very much for your time and contribution!
Research participants needed from Vernon County!
Wisconsin is home to people of many different ethnic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. Heritage, and what it consists of, varies widely, and depends on a range of factors at the individual and community levels. In an effort to learn more about the relationship between heritage language, culture, and identity, this study works to document perspectives on these topics and to gather information on the English spoken in different heritage communities.
As part of that effort, we would like to record in-person audio interviews with people about how heritage language and/or culture contribute to their sense of regional and heritage identity. At this time, we are looking to speak with people who are 18 years or older and grew up in Vernon County.
We are interested in speaking with people who feel closely connected to their heritage/s AND people who feel less connected, but are open to discussing topics related to heritage language, culture, and identity more generally.
Eligibility:
- 18 or older
- Grew up in Vernon County, WI
Time commitment:
- 1 hour minimum, but can be longer depending on participant interest.
Location of interviews:
- Flexible
- The researchers can come to you!
